Orchid Canna

Karl Rosenfield Peony
The Peony 'Karl Rosenfield', 'Paeonia', a fall planted bulb, produces magnificent bright red flowers that are stunning in the garden and superb for cut flowers. During late spring-early summer, they fill the garden with fragrance. They also produce superb, long lasting cut flowers. They will bloom 3 to 4 weeks in late spring. The Peony tolerates some drought but thrives in moist, fertile, well-draining soil. If your soil is extremely acid, add some lime at planting time. Plant the roots with the eyes (buds) pointing up and place them 1" below the soil level. Peonies usually take a few years to establish and bloom heavily. Staking is recommended. Freesias are best known as cut flowers and folks bring them indoors for their breathtaking fragrance. Pinch out the topmost buds and remove old flowerheads to encourage new ones to open. Freesia requires high light intensity and rich soil. Keep them out of extreme heat as they prefer cooler temperatures to perform their best. The Jacobean Lily, also known as the Aztec Lily, 'Sprekelia Formosissima', is a spring planted bulb. The gorgeous red flowers sit atop of 12 to 18 inch stems. The red flowers resemble amaryllis blooms and they prefer well-drained soil. These plants have long, green upright leaves Plant them in full sun or light shade for best results.
